Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt Shop

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt Shop

Last Thursday, Jacob and I stopped at  Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt shop in Fairlawn for an impromptu afternoon date while running some errands. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but have been wanting to check it out. They had me at with their uber cute logo and bright pink exterior, so I knew I had to check out the inside decor. Guess that’s the designer in me :) They didn’t disappoint. The colors and design are as sweet as their yogurt. We were immediately greeted by happy staff and asked if we had ever been there before. I think she could tell by my “huh?” expression that we hadn’t. [Read more…]

“Basketball Soup”

Basketball Soup”

We’ve nicknamed this delicious soup “Basketball Soup” because, made ahead of time, this reheats in less than five minutes so we can enjoy a hot meal after Ethan’s basketball games. [Read more…]

Twenty Twelve

Twenty Twelve

Hello New Year. I know we are a little late in saying it being a week into 2012 already. We’re super excited about these next twelve months even though they will probably fly by quicker than the last twelve. Kendra and I have been quiet with the blog for the past few weeks. We promise it hasn’t been from a lack of interest. We have both been extremely busy with the obvious holiday craziness, as well as new and exciting changes that have come about—both professional and personal—for both of us. As the months continue, I’m sure we will be describing more about our new endeavors as they will most likely affect our topics and activities we share on our blog.

So our little blog has sat quietly, patiently awaiting our next adventure. We have a lot of plans in the works, so stay tuned and enjoy!

Happy 2012. Many blessings and wishes to you and your families!

Lehman’s Adventure

Lehman’s Adventure

Down a winding, tree-lined country road in Kidron, OH sits Lehman’s Hardware Store.  Part store.  Part museum.  All adventure.

The intoxicating, earthy scent of smoked wood wrapped us in comfort and nostalgia as soon as we entered.  Even for those of us who grew up exclusively in cities, with our knowledge of country living limited to Little House on the Prairie, the assault on our senses immediately transported us to yesteryear.  The grand post and beam construction of this superstore is the perfect shelter for the products of simplicity it houses. Vtech InnoTab vs. LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer

Vtech InnoTab vs. LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer

My 2 1/2-year-old (almost 3 in February) son can turn our iPad on, navigate to the Netflix icon and choose a movie of his liking. While there are a few of you out there shaking their heads, I’m accepting this as a sign of the times and trying to embrace his–what seems to be–innate sense for technology. Of course I secretly think my son could be a genius, but I am very aware many others his age have the same savvy techno skills that we could not have comprehended during our childhood. With that, I do think it’s a risky habit to allow a 3-year-old to use our very expensive “toy” for his own enjoyment. So I did some comparison shopping for learning tablets for kids available this holiday season. [Read more…]
